Magnet Charger
|
Description
The Model 1500A Magnet Charger is designed to magnetize a wide
variety of magnetic materials from low coercivity tungsten steels to high energy barium
ferrite. The energy storage principle used permits generation of high energy magnetizing
pulses with relatively low input power demand. The charging transformer in the Model 1500A
used with the proper fixture enables the charging of magnets in many complex
configurations. A maximum current of 40,000 Amps can be developed in the secondary of the
transformer with an emf of only a few millivolts, which assures operator safety. A flux
reset circuit and a shunt diode prevent reverse polarity of the charging pulse when using
pulse transformer fixtures. Wire wound fixtures may be used with the Model 1500A when
straight line magnetizing forces are required, or when maximum energy is required for
charging a multipole assembly. Such fixtures are connected through a safety interlocked
plug-in unit. Special fixtures are available for processing DArsonval meters,
accelerometers, tachometer generators, and similar structures. A front panel switch allows
energy storage levels of either 56 or 225 watt-seconds to be selected. The short recharge
time of the Model 1500A allows use in high speed production applications.
Specifications
Energy Storage: Either 56 or 225 watt-seconds, as selected by a front panel switch. A 200 uF storage capacitor is used.
