Description

The Model 916 Fluxmeter is a wide range, stable, magnetic field measuring instrument. Solid state integrator, amplifier and digital display circuits provide the Model 916 with high accuracy, stability, sensitivity and resolution. This fluxmeter is easily adapted to engineering, quality control and production magnetic field strength measurements. These measurements can be used to determine the efficiency of magnetic circuits, the quality of permanent magnets, and to evaluate the residual field of magnetic devices. The Model 916 has three measurement modes: Normal (Permanent Magnet/DC), PK (Peak Reading), and AC (Average AC). A front panel NULL control enables the operator to adjust for drift.

The Model 916 has 24 ranges (21 calibrated) pushbutton selected. Some ranges are duplicated due to multiplication techniques. All ranges have 100% over range capability. Measurements with a resolution of 100 Maxwell-turns can be made on the most sensitive range. An analog output is provided on the rear panel of the unit. The instrument is available as a bench top unit or a 19" rack mount unit.

The 3 1/2 digit, seven segment LED display includes indicators for polarity, direction of drift (if any) and reset.

Optional accessories include BCD, IEEE-488 and RS232 Bus capabilities.

The Digital Dual Limit Comparator option is ideally suited for production line testing. Minimum and maximum acceptable limits are set on the Digital Comparator. The operator need only observe the indicator lights, resulting in less operator fatigue and error during usage. The BCD output from the display is compared with the thumbwheel limit set points resulting in an accurate HI-GO-LO indication. The HI, GO, LO and NOT GO (+5 VDC 30 ma active low, sink) signals are available on the rear panel. The Area Input option provides a direct readout in gauss. Front panel thumbwheel switches are used to input the search coil are or the B = Ø/A calculation.

Calibrated Ranges:
1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 Kilomaxwell-turns, with range multipliers of 102, 103 and 104 provide 21 calibrated ranges for readings from 1 x 103 to 2 x 109 Maxwell-turns.

Uncalibrated Ranges:
The external (EXT) range is not calibrated and permits the use of external resistors to   calibrate specific search coils. The Area Input option uses the (EXT) range.

Accuracy:
±0.25% of full scale on 1,2,5,10, 20 and 50 with multipliers of 102 and 103. ±0.50% of full scale on 100 range and all ranges using the 104 multiplier. (All ±1 digit.)

Analog Output:
±5 VDC full scale for DC and Peak Modes, +5 VDC for AC Mode. BNC connector.

Input:
Five way binding post on standard 3/4" centers

Operating Modes:
Normal DC, Peak Reading (sample and hold), and Average AC (sinusoidal waveform, 1kHZ maximum).

Drift Rate:
Drift rate for the Model 916 is
± 3 digits in 15 seconds at an operating temperature of 22C  to 28C (72F to 83F) at 35% to 60% humidity.

Power Requirements:
120/230 VAC, 50/60 Hz 10VA. Set by internal switch.

Dimensions:
Width: 8.5 in (21.6 cm)
Height: 4.0 in (10.2 cm)
